Encinitas is a vibrant, bohemian, laid-back beach town with truly the best of everything! Coastal, beach pads mix with sprawling acres of ranch property in this highly desirable location with perfect weather, pleasant people, tasty restaurants, and cool shops. The city consists of five different communities that each have their own unique flavor:
Old Encinitas is a small, beachside area featuring an eclectic mix of businesses and housing styles. The Historic Highway 101 runs right through downtown and includes a number of awesome shops and restaurants. Some of our favorite spots include, East Village Asian Diner, St. Topez French Bakery, Q'ero, Tratoria I'Trulli, Honey's Bistro & Bakery, and Grounded. Whole Foods will also be opening Spring 2011. Directly to the west of downtown, at the center of rows of beachfront properties, is Moonlight Beach, one of the area's most popular. With plenty of room to lay out, three beach volleyball courts, two lifeguard stands, a snack shack, play park, and bonfire pits, this is the spot to be.
New Encinitas is a newer region which features the Encinitas Ranch Golf Course, larger tract homes, and many shopping centers, including Target, Home Depot, Barnes & Noble, Trader Joe's, Henry's, and Jimbo's. If you're looking for good Mexican food, try the chicken soup at Jorge's Mexicatessen. Or grab some yummy yogurt at the ever-popular Swirls. If you're looking for clusters of gated communities, or a bunch of new homes in a planned development, you're more likely to find a place that's safe for the kids to play or a common area for a neighborhood BBQ in this part of town.
Olivenhain is a semi-rural region of eastern Encinitas, with mostly single family homes on 1/2 acre, up to 10+ acre parcels. Got horses? Want space for a full 11-on-11 Turkey Bowl next Thanksgiving? If you want space, this is the place for you! Mature tree growth and larger lot sizes keep your home and backyard private, so you feel like you have a place of your own. Larger estates tend to be found in these parts, but the beauty of it all is that your still just a couple miles away from the beach and minutes away from fabulous shopping and restaurants. If you're looking for a place of your own with space of your own, Olivenhain just might be right for you!
Leucadia is an eclectic Beach Community, featuring art galleries, unique stores, and restaurants, along with single family homes on large lots with mature tree growth. Locals love to Keep Leucadia Funky! Some of our favorite spots include Pannikin Coffee & Tea (great spot to meet for coffee or catch up on some reading), Le Papagayo, and Juanitas Taco Shop. Leucadia's beaches are also some of the area's most popular: Grandview and Beacon's. If you're looking for a place to let the kids play or to walk the dog, check out Orpheus Park and its killer ocean views. And you're always welcome to stop by our Swell Property office on the corner of Grandview and the 101!
Cardiff by the Sea is a unique coastal town perched on a hill with breathtaking views, two miles of Pacific coastline to the west, the 900-acre San Elijo Lagoon Ecological Reserve to the south, and World-Class Surfing! Residents love to shop at locally-owned Seaside Market, grab breakfast at Pipes, and camp out at San Elijo State Park. Cardiff also has a very diverse makeup when it comes to housing styles. Beach bungalows with killer ocean views are aplenty, and the composer district is filled with tons of unique architectural styles from Mediterranean to Contemporary to Traditional-Revival to Coastal Craftsman. You're sure to find the exact style you're looking for in coastal Cardiff.
